Rex has been a real pain in the ass to draw, but I think I finally have it down.
I wanted a thirty-ish man with a long face and broken nose. He looks like he could crush your skull if he wanted. At the same time, I wanted for him to appear sweet.
I hate it when artists design characters who all look exactly the same (I'm looking at YOU, Ramiko Takahashi!). I want people with different nationalities, races, ages, etc. to make the cast look more like a group of real people. I gave Quentin a cube-shaped head to match the multiracial folks I met in Los Angeles. Corelle's face is heart-shaped because I find it attractive. I wanted Rex to have a longer face like the very tall people I've seen.
However, this makes keeping their characters consistent all the more challenging. I think the outcome is completely worth it, though.
